Read MoreHow It Works:
The Book Challenge is a school-wide competition where students are encouraged to read a variety of educational books across different genres and subjects. After reading, students participate in quizzes, discussions, and creative activities related to the books they've read. The more books they read and the more challenges they complete, the more points they earn for their class.
Objectives:
Promote Academic Excellence:
The Book Challenge encourages students to expand their knowledge and improve their literacy skills by exploring a wide range of educational materials. This challenge reinforces the importance of reading as a key component of academic success.
Encourage a Love for Reading:
By turning reading into a fun and competitive game, we aim to cultivate a lifelong passion for books. Students discover new stories, ideas, and perspectives, making reading an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Build Teamwork and Sportsmanship:
Students work together in teams or as a class to complete reading challenges, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. The competitive element also teaches students the value of sportsmanship and perseverance.
Develop Critical Thinking:
Through discussions and quizzes, students are encouraged to think critically about what they’ve read, express their thoughts clearly, and connect the knowledge gained from books to real-world situations.
Highlights of the Book Challenge:
Reading Marathons: Special events where students spend a day immersed in reading and sharing their favorite books with peers.
Quote Battles: Students memorize and recite impactful quotes from their favorite books, competing to see who can best articulate the wisdom found in their readings.
Creative Book Reports: Encouraging creativity, students create artwork, presentations, or skits based on the books they’ve read, adding a fun twist to traditional book reports.
Grand Prize: The class or team with the most points at the end of the challenge is awarded the prestigious Merlart School Book Trophy, along with individual certificates and prizes for outstanding readers.
